It is critically important that every voter in NY-09 has the opportunity to fairly and safely cast their ballot in the June 23 New York primary. Please be aware of the dates and changes to the voting process implemented in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Please note: special elections will now be held on June 23rd, in addition to our primary.
How To Vote Absentee
The state is allowing all voters to vote absentee to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Please follow the steps below to ensure your vote is counted for the Democratic Primary on June 23rd
- Apply: Request an absentee ballot and select “Temporary Illness” as the reason for requesting an absentee ballot. Make sure to do this before June 16th if you plan on voting absentee. You can request a ballot by:
- Vote: Ballots will be mailed beginning on/after May 8, 2020. Once you receive your ballot, cast your votes, fold the ballot and put it in the small envelope, sign and date the back of the envelope and then put it in the larger envelope addressed to the Board of Elections.
- Return Your Ballot: Absentee ballots must be postmarked by the day before Election Day and must reach the Board of Elections no more than 7 days after the election to be counted.
Still Need to Register to Vote?
You have until Friday, May 29 to register to vote in the June 23 primary election.
If you have a valid ID from the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles, you can register to vote online here.
To register to vote by mail, download the application, complete the form, sign it, and mail it to: Board of Elections, 32 Broadway, 7 Fl, New York, NY 10004-1609.
To ask for an application to be sent to you in the mail, call 1-866-VOTE-NYC (1-866-868-3692) or email your mailing address to [email protected] with the name of your borough (i.e. “Brooklyn”) in the subject line.
Applications submitted by mail must be postmarked by Friday, May 29, and received by Wednesday, June 3.
